Sunakhari News / Kathmandu -The International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championship is a non-profit organization established in the year 2000. Headquartered in Portland, USA.

 

Since its inception, the organization has been able to establish its own identity by successfully conducting international level competitions in different countries. Even when there was an earthquake in Nepal in 2072 BS, this organization had distributed relief in various villages and toll settlements affected by the earthquake. Similarly, it has been providing relief to orphans in Nepal.

 

Also, during the Corona epidemic, various relief programs were organized and sports materials as well as food were distributed. The organization has been providing prizes and letters of appreciation to the players and coaches from time to time for the encouragement of the players. Even when all sports activities were closed during the Corona epidemic, he successfully conducted two online championships and one Taekwondo refresher seminar in the Pumse genre of Taekwondo, providing encouragement to taekwondo practitioners around the world as well as imparting practical knowledge on the sport. It becomes clear.

 

In this regard, a free online referee seminar of international standard has been conducted on 25th and 26th March, 2022. The seminar was hosted by the IOFTC Headquarters and was conducted by Grand Master Raymond Hsu, an international judge of the Poomsae and a member of the World Taekwondo Poomsae Committee, and Master Angela Hummel, an expert international judge of the Gerugi (fight) and vice president of the American Taekwondo Committee. Arrangements were made to provide training to Master Angela Hammail DeOliveria for a fee.

The seminar was held on the eve of the 13th International Open Friendship Taekwondo Championship to be held in Michigan, USA on May 13 and 14, 2022. The seminar was attended by 191 participants from 30 countries in Pumse and Gerugi (Fight) disciplines. Taekwondo coaches and players participated through Zoom Link and Facebook Live.

Master Karen Blackledge, who is also the Secretary General of the IOFTC Headquarters, and Diwakar “Dan” Maharjan, Board Director of the IOFTC Head Office, played a key role in conducting the seminar. In addition, various other personalities who have been collaborating with this institute also had direct or indirect coordinating role and the role of course co-ordinator was directly played by Master Laxman Bahadur Air (Master Lax). In addition, Bikash Ghale Gurung provided technical assistance. The board of directors of the organization Diwakar “Dan” Maharjan has informed that the certificates of participation will be sent to all the participants of the seminar through email.
